Top Shot Maryland's NRA Instructor Shotgun Shooting Course

Have you ever wanted to become an NRA Shotgun Instructor? Seeing the excitement in someone’s eyes when they first realize they can shoot clays is priceless!

Here at Top Shot Maryland we specialize in teaching experienced shooters how to become incredible instructors! We are very patient and will work you one-on-one showing you exactly what you will need to do to accomplish that goal.

Instructor candidates must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitude to teach the full NRA Basics Shotgun Shooting course. Topics include NRA’s safe gun handling rules; shotgun parts & operation; shotgun shell components; malfunctions; shotgun shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; & continued opportunities for skill development.

There are certain prerequisites you will need to take before you can sit for the instructor class. For example, prior to coming to class instructor candidates must complete the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course and pass it with a 90%. Students will also have to complete a pre-course questionnaire, demonstrate firearm experience by doing pre-course assessments, and must have completed Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within the past two years. For those who need to take BIT please contact Eric and let him know asap. The cost of BIT is $100. Top Shot Maryland has this set up so you can accomplish all of this within a couple of days.

You will need a firearm, eye protection, ear protection, three boxes of shells (7.5 or 8, no slugs) and a shotgun (no pump action).  If you need to rent a firearm, please let the instructor know.

If you want to sign up for the NRA Instructor Shotgun Shooting course, please go to the calendar, register for the class you are interested in, and then make your payment.
